I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^
It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

The admins have been cooking up something good for the upcoming season but its taking some time to create! In the meanwhile, what do you, our dear members, think might be fun for the community next?

Remember, events must be pleasing for (almost) everyone and involve all three aeries in some fashion. Do you have any challenges you'd like to see? They can be serious or parody! We can also hold things like RP events should enough of our members be interested.

We want to keep the group fun and active and refreshing. Your input and involvement is always appreciated - so let us know!

I would be interested in RP events, I think they are fun. Also, a thought that I had was maybe holding a tournament between the three aeries. For example, maybe something valuable to all three went missing and it was turned into a contest to get the item back.

I like Rekyrem's idea for an event involving both humans and gryphons. Also, reusing the winter festival that was in the works 2010. Hetherev-style art jams that aren't so much an event as everyone doodling on a theme, like Esda's idea (or draw your gryphon as another chimerical mythical creature--hippocampus, pegasus, hippogryph--draw your character in their finest accessories, draw your character as a zombiegryphon). A spring festival has lots of potential. Additional rank challenges after the final stage (maybe some involving human-gryphon interactions, or aerie-interactions). Member-written prompts that people can complete for fun. An RP event, or an RP-and-illustrate event, where members then illustrate a scene from the roleplay.

a mix up of challenges would be nice. maybe some stranger griffin comes from across the sea and the aries prepare a welcome, the new griffin maybe has some kind of strange magic and as a thanks tells stories and offers small gifts to young griffs? or something. could be a contest to pick how it looks or something, kinda like a chain event. a map of windsonde with human and griffin establishments labeled and rivers and such.

ok random spew of thoughts time; whackiest tookie island gryphon combination, some type of contest to fill prestigious ranks in grandesque, god/goddess design for twistoult, best warrior or maybe sneakiest thief tournament in skrekrill. I think it'd be cool for the aries to hold their own contests once in a while, its fun to watch. I'd like to see a cool detailed map of windsonde, more options for rank challenges, and perhaps specific challenges for the different clans. epic battle of the queens lol. Story telling contest with art or literature on a small part of the windsonde history... um thats all i got for now. Sorry if it's not what you're looking for.
