Before nightfall, the gryphs of different aeries have the opportunity to cross the borders into the aeries of their choice, and come together to share their stores of food with each other in a giant feast. Held on the border between grandesque and Twistoult, this feast is meant to bring the different aeries together in anticipation of the coming winter months, and helps heal some severed ties. A great entrance is made by each aerie, all doing a unique flight pattern in unison when coming down to join the other aeries, as if trying to show off their aerie's talent and pride. Meanwhile, the gryphons also show their talent and pride in how they prepare and present their elaborate feasts!
At twilight, the daytime celebrations shift into nighttime festivities: the Eve of Tu-Gaeldun. When the sun has vanished from the horizon, the young gryphs of Windsonde paint themselves in bright, festive autumn colors, or deathly scary ones, and head off to participate in a foraging game, where they collect berries and trinkets from across the different Aeries. Most gryphon parents encourage their young ones to either set off in groups, or to join a group along the way, just to be safe. This often results in mixed crowds, gryphs from different aeries all playing together, keeping one another safe, and trading the treats they receive.
While the young gryphs are occupied, the adults can participate in a masked ball, in which they adorn themselves with colorful paint, masks, and trinkets. These decorations stay on all evening, and names are never to be spoken. For the evening, all of the gryphons are anonymous: the age, clan, aerie, and sometimes even gender are obscured. They are then asked to perform in an almost tribal type dance which consists of moves both on the ground and in the air with partners that they chose, or of which are chosen for them (for those sneaky bachelors). When the fires die down and the Eve of Tu-Gaeldun comes to a close, only then are the masks removed and the gryphons find out whom they’ve spent the night with!
THE EVENT
Adults:
Sign up with a partner, or ask to be placed in a drawing where your partner will be picked for you. If you sign up with a partner, both of you have to agree. If you sign up for the drawing, your partner will be chosen for you, no questions asked. When your partner is chosen, draw an image of the two gryphons dancing or interacting at the ball. Remember, gryphons are not allowed to say their names or what aerie's they are from when they are at the ball, it's all part of the fun!
Young Gryphons:
Draw yourself visiting a different Aerie and getting berries or trinkets! Or, if you want, you can draw yourself trading the berries and trinkets with other younger gryphons. Remember, most young gryphons don't go alone, they usually go out with friends, and sometimes even mingle with the other aerie's!
RULES:
1. Images have to be up to Windsonde's standards. This means the image must be fully colored, shaded, and with a background.
2. When "dressing up" using paint, trinkets, and masks, a gryph will usually imitate natural things or religious figures. Think NATURAL.
3. Each of you are doing a picture if your gryph is an adult. This means you do one picture, and your partner does another. No collabs.
SIGN UP FOR THE EVENT
ADULTS: Comment with your partner's name, and what gryphons you will be using. If you want the partner to be random, put "RANDOM" and then your gryphon's name.
YOUNG GRYPHS: Comment saying that you are going to participate, and with what gryph you will be using.
Sign-ups end on November 1st.
Event images are due November 30th.
More info may still be coming! So check back in up to the sign-up date!

Cervanthe
Cervanthe
The Cervanthe herd dwells in the forests of Chalypsos and rarely leave their territory. They treat outsiders with ambivalence, and often find it difficult to relate to the cultural norms of the other herds. Unlike Hyppos, Kapprini and Anthelos, Cervanthe culture is dictated by the passing of seasons.
In winter, known as Vinthern, the Cervanthe form a herd much like the Hyppos. Everyone comes together for the lean, cold season, gathering under the oldest oak in the forest. The Cervanthe trade stories, huddle around fires for warmth, and subsist on dried meat and fruit stored earlier in the year.
Anthelos
Anthelos
The Anthelos are a nomadic herd. They have no herd leader and no home territory, though they are bound by common values and mutual respect. They roam across Chalypsos, sticking mainly to land unoccupied by the other herds.
As a group, the Anthelos pride themselves on their ability to withstand harsh conditions and fend for themselves. Anthelos live with their parents until their first successful solo hunt, after which they are considered adults and must follow their own path. Anthelos tend to be solitary, but it is not uncommon for individuals to spend a season living among the Hyppos, Kapprini, or Cervanthe
Hyppos
Hyppos
The Hyppos are masters of the open plains and fields. Steady, loyal and honorable, this herd values the strength and health of the group above all things. All are expected to contribute, but no member is left behind. Hyppos band together to accomplish great tasks, such as felling trees or hunting large prey. Though they are welcoming to members of other herds, they expect visitors to follow their code of contact and will present a unified front to drive out anyone who misbehaves until penance is made. Due to their group strength, they have dominated the rich plains of Chalypsos since time immemorial.

Err... just a note that I'm currently signed up for both the ball and young gryphons. I should just be signed up for the ball.
